GIDEON DARKHOLME
125 ⌘ NOVEMBER 5TH ⌘ MALE ⌘ VAMPIRE LORD
APPEARANCE
PERSONALITY
Gideon can be described as an unpredictable, overprotective, sadistic, manipulative, prideful, and sometimes cruel man. Yet the words loyal, intelligent, fearless, honorable, and even empathetic could be used to describe the vampire as well. Perhaps a key factor in Gideon personality is his belief in keeping to his words, and the deals that he has made. He has found that often times, outside of power, the only thing that man has is their word.
He is a rather sophisticated vampire who cares himself in a manner fitting someone of a high caliber position. In fact the way in which Gideon holds himself is a stark betrayal of his imposing physical appearance. Don't be fool though, when the matter calls for it Gideon is quite capable of dropping his role of a businessman. Replacing it with the cold and murderous intent of the demon that lies within. When the demon speaks he chooses his words carefully each one is spoken with purpose and meaning.
When Gideon was human he was often held as a master strategist. A trait of his personality that has stayed with him and grown during his time as a Vampire. Despite having only recently awoken from several years of sleep his mind is still as sharp as ever. Capable of reading people and situations with such ease he almosts makes it look easy.
While Gideon prides himself on being a calm and collected individual even during the most trying of times he does have a bit of temper. One that is most like that of a raging fire; because if not handled carefully it could consume him and others around him. Perhaps the most common ways to bring about Gideon's monstrous temper would be to either betray your word(although if you manage to find some kind of loophole like he often does your far less likely to feel the full force of it.) or to be disloyal. Yes. Loyalty is important to Gideon especially when you run the type of 'business' that Gideon runs. Betray him or your fellow man and you will surely see a side of Gideon you wouldn't like to see.

HISTORY
"Come, take my hand child and allow me to offer you a place amongst the predators of the world. Allow me to offer you the things you never really had. A family, a place to belong, and ones to love you. Never will you have to fear the loneliness again, just allow me...one...little...bite."
Gideon spent the early portions of his life growing up under a mother who didn't care for him, and father who treated him like shit. He was an outcast amongst his peer. Bullied and abused because of his intellect and his ability to grasp things that those around him didn't quite understand themselves. He was truly an odd child. While other boys his age were out playing knight, he was locked inside his room or the town library absorb in the pages of books. He had desire, a thirst if you will, to learn as much as he could about the world around him. This desire mixed with the abuse of his family and those his age is what forced Gideon to push those around him away. It was what made him believe that he was meant to be alone, and that love was something not meant for people like himself.
It wasn't until his late teens that Gideon actually found himself interested the study of warfare, and the movements of the government. It came as a surprise to him find that he was naturally gifted at both of those things. Still he didn't become famous for his abilities overnight. It started out small at first. He would help local villages and mercenary groups deal with threats by coming up with strategies that often times proved successful. It was as his reputation grew that he attracted the attention of people in particularly powerful positions. Lords and Knight-Commanders seeking his help with a wide variety of situations, and each one he helped for a price. It didn't matter the task, big or small, good or evil, if you had enough money or something that proved a challenge for Gideon he would accept it. It wasn't long before even Kings were looking to him for aide. Yet with all this power and success Gideon still felt empty and alone on the inside. He always felt like the outsider, and thus never truly fit with the groups and people he helped.
Then he met Rebekah.
A woman of unimaginable beauty and power. They met through a series of rather unremarkable circumstances, regardless though their first encounter was something plucked straight from the pages of a fairy tale. Albeit a dark one. It was at ball held by a lord that Gideon had just helped invade a nearby settlement. She was clothed in a fine red silk dress, her black locks draped down to her mid-back, and her unnaturally blue eyes captivated all. Yet, there was only person within the ballroom that she was truly interested in. Gideon. She approached him and with but a few soft words he was like putty within her hands. He had never met a woman who held such power in her walk, but still held the air of a lady about her. They talked for hours, and as the party died down she led Gideon to her bedroom. Where once inside she told Gideon the truth about herself. That she was queen of the Vampires, a status she had only gained recently.
She had learned of his reputation as a master of his craft and wanted to claim him as her own. Gideon was of course shocked at first, but the more she talked the more he listened. She knew much about him and his past, and promised him the things he had always wanted. Love, a Family, and place to call his own. All he had to do was let her bite him and bring him to the point of near death, and then consume her blood. Gideon Vermont died that day at age twenty-five, but someone took his place. Someone that had been freed from the shackles of humanity and given a chance to enjoy the things he had missed out in during life. Gideon Darkholme, the Vampire was born. A man that would reach levels his human self could only dream of reaching. First...he needed to conquer his new found hunger. A hunger that upon his turning consumed him whole. He couldn't stop himself from feeding at first, the rush of fresh blood within his mouth was addicting.
It took three years and a lot of willpower for Gideon to gain control of his bloodlust. Rebekah stood by his side throughout the entirety of his struggle with his darker nature. In fact the relationship between Gideon and Rebekah would be a driving factor in his life. What had started out as mere friends and allies turned into something far more as the time passed. They became lovers. Together the two of them did amazing things for the Vampire community, and fought many battles together.
A long period of peace lasting fifty years took place, and they were the happiest years of Gideon's life. Happiness that was shattered when a war with the Werewolves broke out. It was a war that that despite Gideon's amazing abilities, he didn't think he could win. So after ten long years of fighting Gideon managed to broker a trade with the then Alpha of the Werewolves. The Vampires would move their territory back to a mere fraction of what it had been. Gideon even agreed to allow himself to go into deep sleep so that the Vampires no longer had access to their greatest weapon.
It was a sad when he had to leave Rebekah in order be lowered into the ground. It was the only choice though. Their numbers had grown small thanks to the war, and this would secure peace. That is where Gideon has been for all the years to have passed. He'd still be sleeping beneath the ground if a few Vampires hadn't untombed him. After he fed, they told him what had happened to Rebekah. A civil war amongst his people was starting to brew about who should lead, and in an attempt to smother the flames before they grew they had released Gideon. Overcome with anger and grief, and wishing to solve the mystery behind Rebekah's death Gideon took control of the Vampires. He did so...by force.
